On Monday afternoon, Roanoke Public Schools and Secure Solar Futures will present a joint proposal to add solar panels to additional division buildings. Phazhon Nash and Terry McGuire are the sponsors of this presentation.
Solar panels are already installed on the roofs of several buildings in the division, such as Fallon Park Primary School, Fishwick Middle School and other schools.
In the Phase 2 presentation, a number schools are listed as “works-in-progress”, including William Fleming High School and Patrick Henry High School and Grandin Court Primary school.
The presentation includes solar panels for thirteen additional buildings including DAYTEC Elementary School and Crystal Spring Elementary.
According to the presentation, after the three phases of the project are complete, 32 buildings of the division will be equipped solar panels. This would result in a savings of $56.75 millions after 35 years.
