“Incubators of democracy”: Kemp says tough campaign cycle for Virginia

Gov. will serve on the executive committee for the (RGA), which is dedicated to electing governors across the country.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was elected RGA chairman for 2025, and Montana Gov. was elected vice chairman following the association’s annual winter conference held Nov. 20 in southwest Florida. They will serve for one year.

In addition to Gov. Youngkin, the association’s executive committee will consist of: Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves, Missouri Gov.-elect Mike Kehoe, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee.

Kemp pledged to work alongside fellow Republican governors and President-elect to advance conservative policies and strengthen state leadership, stating that his initial focus will be to support Trump as he transitions into the White House and rolls out his agenda.

Kemp said in his home state of Georgia that he has worked on the border issue, civil unrest, the , and deregulating Washington D.C. which is “all the things that President Trump has been talking about and we’re very excited that he’s going to be back in the White House.”

Republicans held onto the gubernatorial stronghold in 27 states in the November 2024 , thanks in part to support from the RGA.

Kemp said Republicans are the “incubators of democracy” and stated, “It will be a tough cycle for us in and New Jersey and then having 36 races in 2026.” Virginia will go to the polls in November 2025 to elect its next .
