In light of the tumultuous political landscape and the disastrous policies implemented by the Democratic administration over the past four years, it is imperative for President-elect Trump to take action before he officially takes office in 2025. The chaos and division sown during this time have left the nation grappling with numerous challenges, and the outgoing administration’s reckless decisions are only complicating matters further.
The recent actions of President Joe Biden have only exacerbated the situation. In the final days of his administration, he has provided Ukraine with long-range missiles, Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), and approved their use inside Russia. This move has prompted Vladimir Putin to publicly state that such missile strikes would be considered as an attack on Russia by NATO. Putin’s warning on September 12, 2024, underscores the gravity of the situation: “This is not about Ukraine striking Russian territory—they already do so with drones. The use of Western-made long-range, high-precision weapons is different… If NATO authorizes such strikes, it escalates the war to a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. In response, we will act based on the threats.” Biden’s reckless escalation has heightened tensions between Russia and NATO, putting the world on edge.
Democratic leadership under Biden-Harris has often been criticized for their handling of foreign policy, leading to increased tensions and instability. Given the tumultuous state of affairs created by the outgoing Democratic administration, which has left a significant mess for the incoming administration to address, it is more important than ever for Trump to take proactive steps.
In this context, it is crucial for Trump to reach out to Putin before taking office. A proactive dialogue could help to defuse tensions and avert a potential conflict that could have catastrophic consequences for both nations and the world at large. The time for diplomacy is now, and the stakes have never been higher.
