Not In The Picture

Our lives today are captured in pictures and videos.  Quite often the larger story is the people who are not in the picture, the ones in the shadows, ignored by the spotlight.

In the above picture, on the left, is an average Maine high school pole vaulter named John Rydzewski. Two years ago, John placed fifth in the Maine boys’ state competition.  Last year,  John changed his identity to “Katie Spencer” and competed in the girl’s category of the Maine High School championships.  Not surprisingly, “John/Katie” won the competition and was named the Maine girls’ pole vault champion.

The picture on the right shows “John/Katie” atop the podium.  While there are many sad parts to this story, the saddest may be the story of the person not in the picture.

Somewhere there is a young woman who trained for years to compete as a pole vaulter who came in fourth place in the Maine competition.  She did not get a medal because she was beaten off the podium by a man with a muscular advantage since birth.  She will not have a medal to show her family, or to inspire her children and grandchildren.  She may lose out on a scholarship to her favorite university because she was beaten by a young man who suffered from the psychological disorder of gender dysphoria.

Others missing from the picture are all the girls and young women who will drop out of competitive sports for fear of having to compete against biological men, or fear of having to share locker rooms and bathrooms with those same men.

Most young women already drop out of competitive sports by the age of 14, how many more will stop pursuing their athletic dreams based on these pictures.  The benefits of a lifetime of physical activity in reducing the risks of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s is well documented, now these girls will remove themselves from these benefits out of fear imposed on them by government bureaucrats.

At President Trump’s State of the Union address, there was a picture of a young woman named Payton McNabb sitting by the First Lady.  Ms. McNabb is facing a lifetime disability from being hit in the head with a volleyball spiked by a biological male.

The people not in the picture of with this young lady were Virginia Senators Warner and Kaine.  Just a few days before the President’s speech both senators had voted with every other democratic senator against “The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act”, which would have prevented the terrible injury inflicted on Payton from happening to other young women.

Apparently, these senators who had so vociferously exclaimed “follow the science” during the 2020 election, now choose to ignore the biological science that there are inherent differences in men and women established in the womb according to our National Institute of Health.

Warner and Kaine voted against the safety and rights of every young woman, not just in Virginia but everywhere in America.

A recent photograph that has gone viral shows Fairfax Virginia School Board Chairman Karl Frisch dancing at a drag show.  Mr. Frisch took his oath of office with his hand, not on a Bible, not on a Torah, not on a Quran, but on a stack of gay porn. (Yes, go back and read that again.) The people not in this picture are all the boys and young men who will attend Fairfax County Schools with Mr. Frisch making decisions on what and how they are educated.  How many of our boys and young men will be taught in school that their inherent masculinity is a problem?  When they naturally express their energy by running, jumping, and playing rough, how many parents will be pressured to medicate their children with psychotropic drugs to manage their behavior? How many of these boys will grow up unprepared to handle their emotions? And as adults, how many will struggle with obesity, chronic health issues, and literacy challenges that could limit their opportunities, including military service?

The final picture has yet to be taken.  On November 4, 2025, Virginia will elect a new governor, every member of the House of Delegates, and many county school board members across the state.  Every Republican and conservative must show up for this picture.  They must vote to protect our children, to keep women’s sports safe, and return Virginia education to basics.

If they fail to show up for this picture on Election Day, woke progressives will keep endangering our children, intensify their indoctrination, and block them from the education they deserve—one that prepares them to thrive in America’s coming Golden Age.

So, will you be in the picture to vote for our children, or will you stay in the shadows and abandon them to progressive indoctrination?

At this dangerous time for journalism in Virginia

We hope you appreciated this article. Before you close this tab, we want to ask if you could support All Virginia News at this challenging time for independent journalism in the Commonwealth.

Virginia is currently governed by a Democratic trifecta—Governor Abigail Spanberger in the Executive Mansion, Democrats holding majorities in both the House of Delegates and the Senate, along with key leadership positions held by figures such as Lt. Governor Ghazala Hashmi, Attorney General Jay Jones, House Speaker Don Scott, and others. In any period of one-party dominance, the risk of reduced transparency and accountability grows. A strong, independent press is essential to scrutinize those in power, regardless of party affiliation.

Across the nation and here in Virginia, press freedom faces real pressures: from political threats and regulatory actions to corporate influence and economic challenges that can compromise editorial independence. When government officials—whether in Richmond or Washington—attempt to shape coverage through pressure, investigations, funding decisions, or favoritism, it undermines public trust and democratic health.

All Virginia News exists to serve Virginia readers first. We are not owned by billionaires or large corporations with political agendas. Our commitment is straightforward: deliver factual, thorough reporting that holds every elected official accountable—Democrat, Republican, or independent—without fear or favor. We believe democracy functions best with a robust, independent press that provides Virginians the full picture, free from partisan spin.

What sustains us through these challenges is the direct support of our readers. A majority of our funding comes from individuals like you who value trustworthy, paywall-free journalism. Your contributions preserve our editorial independence and allow us to continue aggressive, non-partisan oversight of state government, policies, and their impact on Virginia families.

We know these requests are never as welcome as the reporting itself, but without reader support, this work simply could not continue. Of course, we understand that not everyone is in a position to contribute financially, and we remain grateful for your readership either way.

If you are able, please support All Virginia News today. All gifts matter, but recurring contributions are especially valuable as they help us plan and sustain our coverage long-term (and reduce the frequency of these appeals). It takes just a moment to give. Thank you for standing with independent journalism and helping protect a free press that serves all Virginians.
