Virginia schools face federal scrutiny over parental rights laws

The U.S. Department of Education is putting Virginia schools on notice, warning they could lose federal funding and face further investigation if they fail to comply with parental rights laws.

The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has adopted revisions to its Rules or Order (PDF) designed to streamline Board meetings.

Trump to hold campaign rally in Salem Nov. 2

Former President will hold a rally at the Salem Civic Center at 1001 Roanoke Blvd. in Salem, VA on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m.

Salem Committee Chairman Robert Andrews said, “We had heard rumblings that he may be making an appearance in the New River Valley. I got a phone call, and somebody said was coming to the Salem Civic Center. It completely threw us for a loop, but in the best way possible.”

Dixie Caverns Mall at 5753 W Main St. in Salem said it is busy stocking their store with Trump merchandise.

The rally comes just three days before the presidential election and Trump’s visit is influential; once a reliable red state, Virginia has turned blue in the last four presidential . Before turned Virginia blue in 2008, it hadn’t picked a Democratic president since 1964.

Virginia Glenn Youngkin said of Trump’s visit, “I think it’s great that he’s coming. This race has gotten to be a lot tighter and I think it’s reflective of the fact that Virginians are like the rest of America. They want strength back in the White House and that’s what he represents. And so it’s going to be a big day for us to make a stretch run and try to flip Virginia.”
