Democrats fail to pass budget

In politics, there are some days when whole months can happen. The General Assembly reconvened on Wednesday, April 22, and it was one such day.

It never stops. What is the common factor? I think it’s Democrats who make bad decisions.

You would think that a $50-million advantage could have brought a larger margin. Yet, Democrats were giddy about their narrow victory in the redistricting referendum on Tuesday.

They didn’t stay long as they had a lot of amendments to the bills that Gov. Abigail Spanberger, which they did not want to vote.

The Democratic majority did not welcome the governor’s amendments to more than 20 bills.

The Patrick Henry Building was politely notified of several major bills including an assault weapon ban, collective bargaining for public employees, a marijuana marketplace, and legislation restricting Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Even worse for the Governor, her party was the one that led the charge in Virginia to override the veto. This is a very rare event.

The courts were also busy. A judge in Tazewell County stopped the certification process, and declared the referendum null.

On Monday, the Virginia Supreme Court will hear arguments in cases that already exist.

Virginia is dangerously close now to a shutdown of the government. This would be the very first government shutdown in Virginia’s modern history.

The Democrats must get their act together, and concentrate on their main job — passing a Budget — instead of “standing up against Trump.”

They are the ones who hold the most power. Why can’t Virginia Democrats get a budget passed?
