As demand for AI rises, so do power thirsty data centers

The next time you’re on a Zoom meeting or asking ChatGPT a question, picture this: The information zips instantaneously through a room of hot, humming servers, traveling hundreds, possibly thousands of miles, before it makes its way back to you in just a second or two.

Northern Virginia leaders plead for state’s help amid federal job cuts

Northern Virginia leaders urged lawmakers on Tuesday to enact emergency legislation to help stabilize their local economy as the White House cuts federal jobs, which they said has sharply impacted the dense cluster of government employees and contractors based in the suburbs of the nation’s capital.

From the top down, Virginia’s 2025 elections are packed with contenders

The 2025 election season in Virginia is officially underway — and the landscape is coming into sharp focus after last week’s filing deadline for the June 17 primaries.

NEW POLL: GOVERNOR YOUNGKIN IS POPULAR, THE CAR TAX IS NOT

, VA – A new poll released today by the Northern shows Virginians strongly approve of and support his plan to provide working class Virginians with a car tax credit. Nearly three quarters of likely voters polled support the Governor’s plans to provide additional car tax relief to 2.4 million Virginians.

The poll also shows the Governor’s approval rating hovering near previous record-highs and with the car tax debate looming over the 2025 Gubernatorial election, the race for Governor is a dead heat between Republican Lt. Governor and Democratic candidate

“The car tax is the most hated tax in America, as as rightfully said again and again,” said Ron Wright, NVRBF Co-Chairman.“Virginians, especially those living in , want to see more car tax relief, even when compared against vague proposals from Democratic General Assembly leadership to provide additional one-time rebates. The race for Governor is a dead heat and it’s hard to imagine any issue playing louder to voters this year than the absolutely-despised car tax.”

The poll was conducted January 18-20 and included 867 responses from likely voters. The margin of error 3.3% after the poll is weighted for demographic, self-reported party and geographic makeup. The full poll can be found HERE

Key Toplines

  • 59% of Virginians Approve of the Job Governor Youngkin is doing as Governor, consistent with recent public polling and hovering near his record highs

  • More Virginians are aware of Governor Youngkin’s car-tax cut plans than not, 46 to 42%
  • 75% of respondents support Governor Youngkin’s working-class car tax credit plan to provide additional car tax relief to 2.4 million Virginians
  • Half of voters are more likely to support Governor Youngkin’s tax cut plan, even after hearing about a potential proposal from Democratic leaders to provide a one-time tax relief rebate
