Brian Alexander Snyder (27-year-old Manassas resident) appeared in the Loudoun County Circuit Court to be sentenced on two counts of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I/II Substance (fentanyl or cocaine), and also one count of simultaneous possession of a firearm and a Schedule I/II Substance. The Honorable James E. Plowman gave Snyder a fourteen-year sentence in the Virginia Department of Corrections.
Undercover detectives from the Loudoun County Sheriff‘s Office arranged for Snyder to purchase fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs in March 2024. Snyder was arranged to be met by law enforcement for the purpose of buying drugs. He arrived with more than 32 grams of cocaine, as well as 134 pills containing the fentanyl. Law enforcement found a handgun inside the driver’s door of the vehicle Snyder used to drive to the prearranged destination.
The Loudoun County Sheriff‘s Office was able to remove these deadly drugs from the community and prevent them from killing anyone. Bob Anderson, Commonwealth’s attorney in Loudoun, said that drug dealers will face severe penalties.
Thomas Rock, Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, argued during the sentencing that Snyder was “the door dash driver for misery and pain… This is someone who preys on addicted individuals within this community to make money.” Rock suggested a sentence which sends a message that “if you sell drugs, then you will go to prison… The cost of selling Fentanyl in Loudoun, is enormous.”
The Virginia Sentencing Guidelines recommend a punishment range of approximately three to 10 years.
