Trump to hold campaign rally in Salem Nov. 2

Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally at the Salem Civic Center at 1001 Roanoke Blvd. in Salem, VA on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m.

Salem Republican Committee Chairman Robert Andrews said, “We had heard rumblings that he may be making an appearance in the New River Valley. I got a phone call, and somebody said Trump was coming to the Salem Civic Center. It completely threw us for a loop, but in the best way possible.”

Dixie Caverns Mall at 5753 W Main St. in Salem said it is busy stocking their store with Trump merchandise.

The rally comes just three days before the presidential election and Trump’s visit is influential; once a reliable red state, Virginia has turned blue in the last four presidential elections. Before Barack Obama turned Virginia blue in 2008, it hadn’t picked a Democratic president since 1964.

“A force of nature sweeps into Virginia on Nov. 2nd with another Donald J. Trump rally at the Salem Civic Center. SEE YOU THERE because Virginia is in play!” said Rich Anderson, chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin said of Trump’s visit, “I think it’s great that he’s coming. This race has gotten to be a lot tighter and I think it’s reflective of the fact that Virginians are like the rest of America. They want strength back in the White House and that’s what he represents. And so it’s going to be a big day for us to make a stretch run and try to flip Virginia.”

Doors open at noon. Visit the campaign site for more information.
