Virginia schools face federal scrutiny over parental rights laws

Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputy charged with having sex with female inmate

A ‘s deputy has been charged with having sex with an inmate at the Adult Detention Center in , and has been subsequently fired by the department.

Mason Zimmerman, 30, of Smithsburg, Md., was arrested Sunday, Oct. 27, after he allegedly had sex with a female inmate Friday. According to the criminal complaint filed in Loudoun County District Court, Zimmerman admitted to the charge in an interview with another deputy.

Zimmerman had been a Loudoun County correctional deputy since 2016. He was held at the Alexandria Detention Center and had a bond hearing yesterday in Loudoun County District Court. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 23 at 8:30 a.m.

Almost a year ago, another ‘s deputy serving as a corrections officer was arrested after she admitted she inappropriately touched a male inmate and delivered a contraband vaping device to him.

Yesenia Jusino Ramos, 43, of Mount Wolf, Pa., was charged with sexual battery and delivering an article to a prisoner. She was fired from the sheriff’s office after being employed for a year.

Jusino Ramos’s sexual battery were dismissed by the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorneys Office on March 20, 2024. She was convicted of the delivery of contraband to an inmate and received a suspended 30 day sentence and $91.00 in court costs. An administrative hearing is scheduled for March 20, 2025.
